Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Regional VP roles must meet the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation definition, requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. A general management background alone may not suffice, document how your degree connects specifically to the regional leadership scope.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search the OFLC Wage Search to identify companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for senior management roles. Employers already familiar with H-1B1 Singapore requirements move significantly faster through the sponsorship process than first-time sponsors.
Search H-1B1 Singapore jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with documented H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship history. For Regional VP roles, this removes the guesswork of cold-targeting companies that may not understand the visa or lack the HR infrastructure to sponsor it.
Clarify the no-petition consulate process with your employer
Unlike H-1B, the H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the USCIS petition stage entirely. Your employer still files the LCA with DOL, but you apply directly at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. Many HR teams confuse this with standard H-1B processing, so address it early in negotiations.
Use O*NET to validate your role's specialty occupation fit
Pull the Regional Vice President occupation profile from O*NET and confirm the listed education requirements align with your application. If your specific job duties differ materially from the O*NET profile, work with your employer to document the gap before the LCA is filed.
Plan your 10-day grace period for initial entry strategically
The H-1B1 Singapore visa authorizes work only after your start date. You're admitted up to 10 days before employment begins, but you can't start work during that window. Coordinate your relocation timeline so you're operationally ready to begin on day one of your official start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Regional Vice President role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the position. For Regional VP roles, employers typically document requirements in business administration, international management, or a field aligned with the industry. Roles where any general degree suffices can face scrutiny, so the job description must clearly state the specific educational requirement.
How does H-1B1 Singapore differ from H-1B for Regional Vice President candidates?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition, and a 5,400 annual cap that rarely fills, making it far more accessible than H-1B for Singaporean nationals. You apply directly at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore after your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 doesn't confer dual intent, so green card pursuit requires careful planning.
How do I find employers who sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for senior management roles?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface employers with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship history, including for Regional VP and senior leadership positions. You can filter by role type and see which companies have active LCA filings, so you're targeting employers already set up to sponsor rather than educating HR teams from scratch.
What does the employer need to file before I can apply for H-1B1 Singapore status?
Your employer must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL before you can apply at the consulate. The LCA certifies that your offered compensation meets the prevailing wage for the Regional VP role in that location, as determined by the OFLC Wage Search data, and that hiring you won't adversely affect similarly employed U.S. workers.
Can I change employers after arriving in the U.S. on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to obtain a new H-1B1 visa stamp at the consulate before re-entering the U.S. Unlike H-1B, there's no portability provision allowing you to begin work with a new employer while a petition is pending, so plan any transition carefully to avoid gaps in work authorization.
