Strategy Director jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship are open to Singaporean nationals under the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation standards
Strategy Director roles must qualify as a specialty occupation under H-1B1 visa rules. Pull your O*NET profile for this title and confirm your degree field directly aligns, since a general business degree alone may not satisfy a consul's scrutiny.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Search Migrate Mate to identify U.S. employers with verified H-1B1 LCA filing history for strategy-level roles. Employers who have filed before understand the process and won't slow your offer over unfamiliarity with the visa.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify you'll earn at least the DOL prevailing wage for Strategy Director in your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search by SOC code before you negotiate so you know the floor and can anchor your ask above it.
Clarify the LCA timeline with your employer early
Unlike H-1B visa, there's no USCIS petition for H-1B1 Singapore. Your employer files the LCA with DOL, which typically certifies within seven business days. Knowing this helps you set a realistic start-date expectation in offer negotiations.
Prepare for dual-intent questions at your consular interview
The H-1B1 is a nonimmigrant visa without dual-intent protection, so consular officers may probe your ties to Singapore. Document your intent to return after each admission period, even if you plan to renew annually.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before signing
H-1B1 employers are required to participate in E-Verify. Before you finalize an offer, ask HR to confirm enrollment status directly. An employer who isn't enrolled can't legally employ you on this visa status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Strategy Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as business strategy, economics, or management. Roles where any general degree satisfies the requirement can face scrutiny. Reviewing the O*NET profile for the specific SOC code tied to your title helps confirm the degree-field match a consul will expect to see.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for Strategy Director positions?
The H-1B1 Singapore skips the H-1B lottery entirely and requires no USCIS petition, so your employer's burden is lower and your timeline is more predictable. The trade-off is that H-1B1 carries no dual-intent protection, meaning you cannot simultaneously pursue a green card while holding the status. For Singaporean nationals in strategy roles who want to test the U.S. market before committing to permanent residency, H-1B1 is often the faster entry point.
Which U.S. employers actively sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for Strategy Director roles?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified LCA filing history, so you can identify employers who have already sponsored H-1B1 or H-1B roles at the director level rather than relying on employers who may be unfamiliar with the process. Strategy Director sponsorship is most common in management consulting, technology, financial services, and large consumer goods companies with established global mobility programs.
What happens to my H-1B1 status if my employer undergoes a merger or restructuring?
If the new or surviving entity is a successor in interest and your role and terms remain substantially the same, your H-1B1 status is generally unaffected. If the entity changes materially or your position is eliminated, your employer must file a new LCA and you'd need to apply for a new H-1B1 at a consulate. You don't have the USCIS portability protections that H-1B holders receive under AC21, so confirm the structure of any deal with your employer's immigration counsel.
Can I work for multiple U.S. employers simultaneously on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Concurrent employment is possible but each employer must file a separate LCA covering your work at their organization. For Strategy Director roles, which often involve advisory relationships or board-level consulting, this matters practically: informal arrangements or unpaid advisory roles that cross into compensated work require their own LCA. Confirm each engagement's structure with your immigration contact before accepting additional work.
