Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Business Development Manager
Pull your O*NET profile before applying
Business Development Manager maps to a specific O*NET occupation code. Confirm your resume reflects the exact tasks, skills, and knowledge areas listed there so your credentials align with what DOL verifies when certifying the employer's job order.
Target agricultural employers with seasonal revenue cycles
H-2A visa positions must be temporary or seasonal. Focus on growers, packing houses, and ag-export firms whose business development need spikes during harvest, export, or contract-renewal seasons rather than year-round commercial enterprises.
Search verified H-2A employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter business development roles at employers with active H-2A filing history. That filing history confirms the employer already understands DOL labor certification, housing obligations, and AEWR compliance before you send your application.
Confirm the employer's housing plan before accepting an offer
H-2A law requires employers to provide free housing that meets federal or state safety standards. Ask specifically whether housing is employer-owned or a third-party arrangement and whether it's close enough to the work site to be practical during your contract period.
Verify your wage offer against the AEWR for the posting state
The AEWR varies by state and changes annually. Cross-check your offered wage against the current AEWR using the OFLC Wage Search before signing anything. If the offer falls below the AEWR for that state, the employer's petition cannot be certified.
Understand the DOL job-order timeline before your start date
DOL must certify the employer's job order before USCIS can process the H-2A petition, and USCIS recommends filing at least 45 days before the employment start date. Build that runway into your negotiation so a delayed offer doesn't push your start date past the season.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Development Manager jobs with H-2A sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search. It filters roles specifically at employers with verified H-2A filing history, so you're not sifting through listings from companies that have never navigated DOL labor certification. Search by job title and visa type to surface roles where the employer is already set up to sponsor H-2A workers.
What housing and transportation obligations does an H-2A employer have for a Business Development Manager role?
H-2A employers must provide free housing that meets federal or state occupational safety standards for the entire contract period. They're also required to cover inbound and outbound transportation costs between your home country and the work site. These aren't optional perks, they're legally required conditions of the labor certification DOL issues before USCIS sees the petition.
Does a Business Development Manager role qualify as seasonal work under H-2A?
It can, but the position must be genuinely tied to a temporary or seasonal agricultural need rather than an ongoing operational role. A business development function linked to a specific harvest cycle, export season, or contract-renewal window qualifies. A permanent, year-round sales management role at an agricultural company generally does not meet the seasonality requirement DOL evaluates during labor certification.
Can I extend my H-2A status if the employer wants to keep me past the original contract end date?
Yes. H-2A status can be extended in increments up to a maximum continuous stay of three years. Your employer must file an amended or new H-2A petition with USCIS before your current authorized period expires. After three consecutive years in H-2A status, you must depart the United States for an uninterrupted period of at least three months before a new H-2A period can begin.
