Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Sales Jobs
Match your work history to H-2A sales tasks
H-2A visa sales roles cover crop marketing, farm-stand operations, and wholesale transactions, not office sales. Document any experience handling agricultural product inventory, cash transactions, or customer-facing work at farms, markets, or cooperatives before you apply.
Target farms with existing DOL job orders
Employers must file a job order with DOL before sponsoring H-2A workers. Search the OFLC Foreign Labor Certification Data Center for active H-2A job orders listing sales or market roles to find employers already in the sponsorship pipeline.
Search verified H-2A employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter agricultural employers who have filed H-2A labor condition applications for sales positions. You'll see which operations have active sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to farms that have never filed.
Confirm the seasonal end date before signing
H-2A status is tied to a specific period of need. Sales roles tied to harvest or market season must have a defined end date. Verify your contract specifies the exact employment window, USCIS won't approve an open-ended or year-round sales position.
Ask how your employer handles the three-quarter guarantee
DOL requires H-2A employers to guarantee work for at least 75 percent of the contract period. For sales roles where slow weeks happen, ask your employer how shortfalls are handled and whether guaranteed-hours language appears in your job offer letter.
Use O*NET to align your job description language
DOL reviews whether your sales role qualifies as agricultural work. Cross-reference your duties against the O*NET occupation profile for agricultural sales agents or farm product purchasers to ensure your job description matches the H-2A program's scope.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sales jobs that offer H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists agricultural employers with verified H-2A filing history, including sales roles at farms, cooperatives, and produce operations. Because H-2A employers must file a DOL job order before hiring foreign workers, Migrate Mate surfaces operations that are already in the sponsorship process, saving you from applying to farms with no active authorization pathway.
What employer obligations come with H-2A visa sponsorship for Sales roles?
Your H-2A employer must provide free housing for the duration of your contract, cover inbound transportation costs from your home country, and pay at least the Adverse Effect Wage Rate set by DOL for your work location, whichever is higher than the prevailing wage. They must also guarantee work for at least 75 percent of your contracted hours, even during slow sales periods.
Does a Sales job actually qualify under the H-2A program?
It depends on the duties. H-2A covers temporary agricultural employment, so sales roles tied directly to farm operations, such as selling harvested crops at farm stands, managing wholesale transactions for a grower, or working at agricultural markets during a defined season, can qualify. General retail or office-based sales roles with no agricultural connection do not meet the program's requirements.
Can I extend my H-2A status if the sales season runs longer than expected?
Yes, your employer can file an extension with USCIS before your current authorized period ends, provided the additional time remains temporary and tied to a continuing agricultural need. Extensions are granted in increments, and the total stay generally cannot exceed three years. Your employer must update the DOL job order to reflect the extended period of need.
