Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Program Manager
Document your agricultural program oversight experience
Compile records showing you've managed seasonal labor schedules, compliance reporting, or multi-site coordination. H-2A visa Program Manager roles require demonstrating administrative depth, not just fieldwork, so contracts, performance reports, and org charts all strengthen your profile.
Verify the role qualifies as seasonal work
H-2A is restricted to temporary or seasonal positions tied to agricultural cycles. Confirm the Program Manager role has a defined end date or is tied to a harvest or planting season before committing time to the application process.
Search for H-2A-approved employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters agricultural employers by H-2A sponsorship history, so you're targeting operations that have already navigated DOL certification. This cuts out employers unfamiliar with H-2A Program Manager sponsorship requirements.
Ask employers about their AEWR wage calculation
The Adverse Effect Wage Rate varies by state and year, set annually by DOL. Confirm with the employer which state's AEWR applies to your posting and whether the prevailing wage for the Program Manager role exceeds it, since they must pay whichever is higher.
Check your role's O*NET classification before applying
Employers use the O*NET occupation profile to define Program Manager duties in DOL filings. If the posted responsibilities don't align with the O*NET description for your role, the job order may face certification delays or a Request for Evidence.
Confirm housing and transportation terms before signing
H-2A employers are legally required to provide free housing and transportation between your place of residence and the worksite. Get these terms in writing during the offer stage, since location and shared housing arrangements directly affect your day-to-day program management work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Program Manager jobs with H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for workers seeking U.S. agricultural jobs with H-2A sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have active or prior H-2A filings for Program Manager roles. This is more targeted than searching general job boards, where H-2A positions are rarely labeled clearly.
What employer obligations come with H-2A sponsorship for this role?
H-2A employers must provide free, DOL-approved housing for the duration of your employment, cover inbound and outbound transportation costs, and guarantee work for at least 75 percent of the contract period. For Program Manager roles, employers also file a job order with their State Workforce Agency and obtain DOL certification before USCIS processes the petition.
Does a Program Manager role qualify for an H-2A visa?
It can qualify if the position is tied to a seasonal or temporary agricultural operation with a defined work period. Roles overseeing crop programs, labor compliance, or harvest logistics typically meet the standard. Permanent year-round management positions do not qualify, so the job order must clearly reflect the seasonal nature of the work.
What happens if the employer files the H-2A petition late?
DOL requires job orders to be filed at least 60 days before the work start date, and USCIS petition filing follows after certification. If either step is delayed, your start date shifts and your entry into the U.S. may be affected. Confirm your employer's filing timeline early and ask for the certified job order number once DOL approval comes through.
