Align your credentials with agricultural marketing
H-2A visa marketing roles typically support agribusiness promotion, not general brand work. Pull together any portfolio materials showing farm product campaigns, farmers market outreach, or agricultural cooperative communications before you start applying.
Search verified H-2A employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter for agricultural employers with active H-2A filing history. That filing history confirms the employer already understands the sponsorship process, which cuts negotiation friction when you bring up visa support.
Target growers who sell direct to consumers
Farm stands, CSA operations, and agritourism businesses are more likely to need on-site marketing staff than commodity crop operations. These employers also tend to have tighter seasonal windows, which fits the H-2A temporary-position requirement cleanly.
Confirm the employer's DOL job order before accepting
Every H-2A hire requires a certified job order through DOL. Ask your prospective employer whether they've filed or are working with an agent to file. An offer without a job order in progress isn't an H-2A offer yet.
Check the prevailing wage for your state using OFLC Wage Search
H-2A wages are set by the Adverse Effect Wage Rate or the prevailing wage, whichever is higher. Look up the agricultural prevailing wage for your target state through OFLC Wage Search so you know what your employer is legally required to pay.
Use O*NET to document your occupation code
Your employer's labor certification must reference a Standard Occupational Classification code. Pull the marketing role description from O*NET and share it with your employer's attorney or agent so the job order matches your actual duties accurately.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Marketing jobs that offer H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for agricultural employers with H-2A filing history for marketing roles. Because H-2A positions must be tied to seasonal agricultural operations, you're looking specifically at agribusinesses, farm cooperatives, and regional food producers rather than general marketing agencies. Filtering by visa type and employer filing history narrows the list to employers already set up to sponsor.
What housing and transportation obligations does an H-2A employer have for a marketing worker?
H-2A employers are required to provide free housing that meets federal or state standards for the duration of your employment, along with free transportation between your housing and the worksite. They must also cover inbound travel costs once you've completed half the work contract and outbound travel when the contract ends. These obligations apply regardless of your specific role, including marketing positions.
Does a marketing role qualify as a seasonal or temporary position under H-2A rules?
It can, but the connection to agricultural seasonality must be documented. If the marketing work supports a harvest campaign, a seasonal farm stand, or a time-limited agritourism event, it qualifies. A year-round marketing position at a large agribusiness is unlikely to meet the temporary or seasonal requirement. Your employer's labor attorney will need to demonstrate the position's seasonal nature in the DOL job order.
Can I use prior non-agricultural marketing experience to support an H-2A application?
Yes, prior marketing experience strengthens your profile even if it wasn't in agriculture. The H-2A program focuses on labor shortage in the domestic workforce, not on applicant credentials specifically. That said, employers filing a job order through DOL will list minimum qualifications, so tailor your application materials to emphasize any farm, food, or rural market work prominently alongside your general marketing background.
