Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Project Manager
Pull your O*NET occupational profile first
The O*NET profile for Project Manager in agriculture outlines the exact task and knowledge codes DOL reviewers match against H-2A visa job orders. Confirming your experience aligns with those codes before you apply prevents a mismatch that delays certification.
Target farms with prior H-2A job orders
Employers who have filed H-2A job orders before already understand the housing, transportation, and AEWR wage obligations. First-time sponsors frequently underestimate compliance costs and withdraw offers mid-process, leaving you without a position.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Project Manager listings by confirmed H-2A sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through roles that list visa support but have no DOL filing record behind them.
Verify the AEWR before negotiating any offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find the current Adverse Effect Wage Rate for the state and crop activity in your job order. If an employer quotes a rate below the AEWR, DOL will reject the job order and your sponsorship timeline resets.
Confirm the job order lists a fixed season end date
H-2A petitions require a defined temporary or seasonal period. Employers sometimes write open-ended project timelines into job orders, which USCIS flags as permanent-role indicators and can result in a Request for Evidence or denial.
Get housing and transportation terms in writing before signing
DOL regulations require H-2A employers to provide free housing and inbound transportation, but the specific arrangements vary widely. Verbal assurances don't satisfy your rights under the job order, so require a written addendum detailing both before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Project Manager jobs with H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Project Manager roles where employers have a verified H-2A sponsorship record. Standard job boards don't filter by DOL job order history, so listings claiming visa support are often unverified. Migrate Mate surfaces only employers who have actively filed H-2A applications, saving you from pursuing roles that won't result in a certified petition.
What are an H-2A employer's housing and transportation obligations for a Project Manager role?
Your employer must provide free housing that meets federal and state occupational safety standards for the entire duration of your H-2A authorization. They must also cover inbound transportation costs from your home country or place of recruitment. These aren't negotiable perks; they're DOL-mandated conditions written into the certified job order, and an employer who fails to provide them is in violation of their H-2A certification.
Does a Project Manager role qualify as a seasonal or temporary position under H-2A rules?
It can, but only if the role is tied to a defined agricultural season or a one-time project with a clear end date. Managing a multi-season harvest operation or a recurring annual crop cycle typically qualifies. Ongoing year-round management that isn't tied to a seasonal agricultural activity doesn't meet H-2A's temporary nature requirement, and USCIS will scrutinize the job order description for that distinction.
What wage rate applies to H-2A Project Managers, and how is it set?
Your employer must pay whichever is higher: the Adverse Effect Wage Rate for the state and agricultural activity listed in the job order, or the prevailing wage for the Project Manager occupation in that region. Both figures are determined by DOL. You can look up the current AEWR and prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting any offer to confirm the employer's quoted rate is compliant.
