Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Operations Jobs
Document your supervisory experience precisely
H-2A visa Operations roles require demonstrating hands-on agricultural oversight, not just general management. List specific crops, equipment types, and crew sizes you've managed so employers can match your background to their certified job order.
Target employers with active DOL job orders
Only employers who've filed a temporary labor certification through the DOL's FLAG system can legally sponsor H-2A workers. Search OFLC job postings to find Operations openings where the certification is already approved and hiring is active.
Search verified H-2A employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Operations listings to employers with confirmed H-2A filing history, so you're not applying to postings where sponsorship is uncertain. Use it to target roles where the DOL certification process is already underway.
Confirm housing details before accepting an offer
H-2A employers must provide free housing that meets DOL standards. For Operations roles across multiple worksites, clarify whether housing moves with you or stays fixed, since crew supervisors often rotate between locations during the season.
Understand how the AEWR applies to your role
The Adverse Effect Wage Rate varies by state and gets updated annually by DOL. Operations roles sometimes span multiple states during a single season, so confirm which state's AEWR governs your contract before signing.
Align your O*NET occupation code with the job order
Employers list a specific O*NET code on their DOL labor certification. For Operations roles, mismatches between your stated experience and the certified occupation code can delay your visa filing. Cross-check your duties against the O*NET profile before applying.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Operations jobs with H-2A sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Operations roles where H-2A sponsorship is confirmed. Employers who post there have active or prior DOL temporary labor certifications, so you're not wasting time on listings where sponsorship is uncertain. You can filter by visa type to see only H-2A-eligible positions.
What housing and transportation obligations does an H-2A employer have for Operations workers?
H-2A employers must provide free housing that meets federal or state standards for the duration of your contract. They're also required to cover transportation costs from your home country to the worksite and back at season's end. For Operations roles involving multiple farm locations, confirm in writing how housing transfers between sites, since crew supervisors often move with harvests.
Can an H-2A Operations worker supervise both H-2A and domestic workers on the same crew?
Yes. H-2A workers in Operations roles routinely supervise mixed crews of H-2A visa holders and domestic employees. Your job duties and the scope of your supervisory authority must match what's listed in the employer's certified DOL job order. Any significant expansion of responsibilities during the season may require the employer to file an amendment with USCIS.
What happens if the harvest ends early and my Operations contract is cut short?
H-2A employers must guarantee at least three-quarters of the work hours listed in your job order, a rule known as the three-fourths guarantee. If the season ends early and you're sent home before that threshold, the employer owes you the unpaid wages regardless. Early termination does not affect your ability to apply for future H-2A positions with a different employer.
