H-2B Visa C.N.A. Jobs
C.N.A. jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available through U.S. employers who need certified nursing assistants for seasonal surges in long-term care, rehabilitation, and residential facilities. Employers must file for DOL temporary labor certification before sponsoring you, and H-2B visas are capped at 66,000 annually, so timing your application early matters.

Verify your CNA certification transfers across states
H-2B visa employers hire for a specific worksite state, and CNA certification isn't automatically reciprocal. Confirm your credentials are recognized in that state's registry before accepting an offer, or you'll need to retest after arrival.
Target employers with DOL temporary labor certification history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to identify which healthcare employers have previously filed H-2B temporary labor certifications for nursing assistant roles. Repeat filers already understand the process and are less likely to abandon sponsorship mid-hire.
Search H-2B CNA openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-2B sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time on employers who've never filed. Search specifically for CNA and nursing assistant roles to find facilities actively recruiting international workers.
Apply before January for the summer cap allocation
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap splits into two halves: 33,000 for jobs starting October through March, and 33,000 for April through September. Healthcare facilities hiring for summer seasonal needs must file with DOL well before March to secure a number under the summer half.
Confirm your employer is E-Verify enrolled before signing
H-2B employers are required to use E-Verify to confirm your work authorization after you arrive. Ask prospective employers to confirm their E-Verify enrollment status during the offer stage, not after you've already committed to relocation.
Get your O*NET occupation code from your job offer
Your employer's DOL filing must reference the correct O*NET occupation code for your role. Ask them to confirm they're filing under the nursing assistants code, not a broader healthcare support category, since a mismatch can delay or invalidate certification.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find CNA jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find CNA and nursing assistant roles where the employer has verified H-2B sponsorship history. Because H-2B requires employers to complete DOL labor certification before hiring, you need to target facilities already familiar with the process. Searching by role and visa type on Migrate Mate filters out employers who don't sponsor.
Does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start a CNA job?
Yes, and timing is critical. The H-2B program issues 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split evenly between two periods. If you're targeting a summer start date, your employer must file early enough to secure a number under the April-to-September allocation, which fills quickly. USCIS has historically reached the cap within weeks of opening the filing window, so late applications often miss out entirely.
Can a CNA role qualify for H-2B if the facility operates year-round?
H-2B is specifically for temporary or seasonal need, not permanent staffing. A long-term care facility can qualify if it demonstrates a provable seasonal spike in patient census, such as winter resident intake increases. The employer must document this pattern when filing with DOL. Facilities that need CNAs consistently throughout the year without a seasonal peak don't meet the temporary need standard.
What documents does a CNA need to prepare before an employer files their H-2B petition?
You'll need your valid passport, proof of your CNA certification from the relevant state registry, and any training credentials your employer requests for the DOL filing. Your employer handles the actual petition with USCIS, but they'll need your personal information and credential documentation to complete the I-129 form accurately. Having certified copies of your training records ready speeds up the process significantly.
