H-2B Visa EMT Jobs
EMT jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship are available through seasonal operations like ski resorts, outdoor event venues, and large-scale construction sites that need on-site emergency medical coverage. Employers must file a temporary labor certification with the DOL before sponsoring you, and the annual cap of 66,000 visas means timing your application matters.

Verify your EMT certification transfers across states
H-2B visa employers must specify the work location in their DOL filing. Confirm your EMT certification is valid or can be reciprocated in that state before accepting an offer, since some states require separate licensure exams for out-of-state credentials.
Target employers with seasonal medical staffing needs
Ski resorts, motorsport events, and outdoor music festivals regularly hire H-2B EMTs for defined seasonal windows. Search for venues that operate on fixed seasonal schedules, since the DOL requires employers to prove a temporary, non-permanent need before certifying your position.
Search verified H-2B sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter EMT roles by employers with confirmed H-2B filing history. This cuts the research time on identifying which seasonal operations have already navigated the DOL labor certification process for medical personnel.
Confirm the employer's DOL filing window before committing
H-2B labor certification applications can be submitted no more than 75 days before your intended start date. Ask any prospective employer exactly when they plan to file with OFLC so you can gauge whether their timeline aligns with your availability and the visa cap period.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offered wage
DOL requires H-2B employers to pay the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Cross-check your offer against OFLC Wage Search for the EMT SOC code in that county so you can flag a non-compliant offer before the certification is filed.
Get your credentials translated and evaluated before the offer stage
If your EMT training was completed outside the U.S., arrange a credential evaluation from an accredited evaluator before employers begin their USCIS petition. Delays in document evaluation are one of the most common causes of missed H-2B cap filing windows.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find EMT jobs with H-2B visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search EMT roles filtered specifically by employers with H-2B filing history, so you're not guessing which seasonal operations are willing to sponsor. Most H-2B EMT positions are attached to ski resorts, outdoor events, and construction projects with defined start and end dates that match the DOL's temporary need requirement.
Does the H-2B annual cap affect when I can start an EMT job?
Yes. The 66,000 annual H-2B cap is split into two halves: 33,000 for workers starting between October 1 and March 31, and 33,000 for April 1 through September 30. If your employer files after a cap half fills, USCIS will reject the petition. Coordinate with your employer early so their DOL and USCIS filings land well before the relevant cap period closes.
Can I transfer my H-2B status to a different EMT employer mid-season?
H-2B status is employer-specific, so changing employers mid-season requires the new employer to file a fresh DOL labor certification and USCIS petition on your behalf. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories. Working for an employer not listed on your approved petition is a status violation, so don't accept a new role until the new paperwork is approved.
Does my EMT certification level affect H-2B eligibility?
The DOL evaluates the specific job duties described in the employer's certification filing, not your certification tier in isolation. However, if your employer lists EMT-Basic duties and you hold an Advanced EMT or Paramedic credential, the scope mismatch can trigger questions during the USCIS review. Make sure the employer's job description accurately reflects the role and matches the credential level they intend to sponsor.
