THE ROLE:
Sensus, a Xylem brand, is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electromagnetic and ultrasonic water metering products. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex measurement challenges, developing low-power embedded hardware, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver products that operate reliably in the field for decades.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead hardware development from concept through production, including architecture, schematic design, PCB development, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing support.
- Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and sensor interface circuits for battery-powered embedded systems.
- Serve as the technical lead for metrology hardware, supporting electromagnetic and ultrasonic measurement technologies.
- Collaborate with firmware, systems, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams to optimize performance, reliability, power consumption, and cost.
- Develop and execute test plans focused on accuracy, noise performance, environmental robustness, and long-term reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5–10+ years of hardware design experience.
- Experience with low-power embedded systems and sensor-based products.
- Strong analog and mixed-signal design skills.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power measurement tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with DSP, signal acquisition, filtering, and noise reduction.
- Background in water, gas, utility, industrial, or smart metering products.
- Familiarity with electromagnetic or ultrasonic sensing technologies.
- Experience designing products intended for 15–20+ year field life.
