Entry Level Hospitalist Physician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hospitalist physician job?
Completing your residency or fellowship in internal medicine or family medicine is the core requirement at this stage. Employers hiring entry level hospitalist physicians look for clinical rotation experience in inpatient settings, board certification or eligibility, and strong references from attending physicians. Demonstrating comfort with rapid patient turnover, care coordination, and electronic health records gives candidates a clear edge over others at the same experience level.
Which companies hire entry level hospitalist physicians?
Companies hiring entry level hospitalist physicians right now include Pediatrix Medical, Mayo Clinic, and CommonSpirit Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hospital systems, regional health networks, and physician staffing groups tend to post the most openings at this level, particularly for new graduates completing residency and seeking their first attending position.
Are there remote entry level hospitalist physician jobs?
Yes, though most hospitalist roles require in-person patient care. About 1% of entry level hospitalist physician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which typically covers telemedicine coverage shifts or administrative components rather than full remote practice. Candidates open to on-site roles will find significantly more openings at this experience level.
Are these new grad hospitalist physician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior hospitalist physician roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of attending experience, accepts residency rotations or fellowship training in place of independent practice history, and does not require prior hospitalist employment. Board eligibility, completed residency, and strong inpatient clinical hours are what these employers actually screen for.
Which industries hire the most entry level hospitalist physicians?
Entry Level hospitalist physician roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because inpatient volume, shift-based coverage models, and growing demand for round-the-clock hospital medicine create consistent openings for physicians entering the specialty directly from residency.
