How do I get a hvac engineer job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's commercial construction firms, petrochemical facility operators, and large healthcare systems, which are among the heaviest local employers of hvac engineers. Jobs concentrate in the Energy Corridor, Greenway Plaza, and the Texas Medical Center area. Candidates with experience in industrial HVAC systems, building automation controls, or energy modeling for large commercial buildings tend to stand out in this market.
Which companies hire hvac engineers in Houston?
Employers hiring hvac engineers in Houston right now include CBRE, Fluor, and Johnson Controls, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's mix of engineering and construction firms, facility management companies, and energy sector operators creates a broad range of employer types across the metro.
Are there remote hvac engineer jobs in Houston?
Yes, though sparingly, since most hvac engineer work involves on-site inspections, equipment commissioning, and facility coordination that can't be done remotely. About 100% of hvac engineer openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a small but real slice of the market. Design, energy modeling, and project management functions are the roles most likely to offer hybrid flexibility in Houston.
How can I get a hvac engineer job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is targeting mechanical engineering technician or junior HVAC designer roles at mid-size MEP consulting firms and commercial contractors, many of which operate out of the Westchase and Greenway Plaza corridors. Internships with Houston-area facility management companies or the Texas Medical Center's construction and engineering departments can also open doors. A strong grasp of AutoCAD or Revit MEP and any hands-on coursework in refrigeration or building systems gives candidates a visible edge with local employers.
