Master Plumber Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a master plumber in Texas?
To become a master plumber in Texas, you must pass the Master Plumber examination administered by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and hold an active license issued by that board. Before sitting for the exam, candidates must accumulate qualifying experience as a licensed journeyman plumber in Texas. The board also requires continuing education to renew the license. Most candidates prepare through apprenticeship programs offered through trade associations and community colleges across the state.
Which companies hire master plumbers in Texas?
Texas master plumber roles are posted by Volarify, Quantum, and Walmart and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's mix of large commercial contractors, municipal utility systems, and industrial facility operators means openings come from a wide range of employer types across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most master plumber jobs?
Houston, Waco, and Austin have the most master plumber openings in Texas right now. Houston leads because of its concentration of petrochemical and industrial facilities alongside one of the country's busiest commercial construction markets, while Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio draw consistent volume from large-scale residential development, hospital systems, and municipal infrastructure projects.
Are there remote master plumber jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Master plumbing is inherently hands-on work performed on physical job sites, so most openings require on-site presence. About 0% of master plumber openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in estimating, project management oversight, or code consulting rather than field installation work.
How can I get hired as a master plumber in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a registered apprenticeship program, which Texas mechanical and plumbing contractors run in partnership with trade associations like the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of Texas and local union affiliates. These programs let you earn while building the journeyman hours required before pursuing a master license. Large Texas employers in commercial construction and municipal utilities regularly hire apprentice and journeyman-level candidates, and holding even a Texas Tradesman Plumber-Limited license while working toward your journeyman credential signals seriousness to hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to master plumber jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to master plumber jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Texas employers. Search the listings to find roles that match your license level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to whichever ones fit your situation.
