HVAC Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a hvac job in Houston?
Target Houston's commercial and industrial sectors first, where demand runs highest: the petrochemical plants and refineries along the Ship Channel, large hospital systems in the Medical Center, and the wave of commercial construction projects downtown and in the Energy Corridor. Candidates who hold a Texas HVAC license and have hands-on experience with building automation systems or industrial chillers stand out in this market.
Which companies hire hvacs in Houston?
Houston hvac roles are posted by HTS Engineering - Heat Transfer Solutions, K Komfort Heating & Cooling, and CBRE and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's mix of major hospital networks, commercial real estate operators, and energy-sector facilities means openings come from a wide range of employer types across the metro.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Houston?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the field, since most hvac work is hands-on and tied to a physical site. About 12% of hvac openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be estimating, project management, or building controls engineering roles rather than installation or service technician positions.
How can I get a hvac job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is an apprenticeship through a union hall or a direct hire as a helper with a commercial mechanical contractor serving the Medical Center or the downtown high-rise market. Houston employers regularly bring on entry-level helpers and apprentices who hold an EPA 608 certification, and lateral moves from facilities maintenance roles at large Houston campuses can also open the door to full hvac technician positions.
