HVAC Technician Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a hvac technician job in Houston?
The strongest path in Houston is targeting the sectors that drive the city's hvac demand: commercial real estate firms managing large office and mixed-use portfolios, petrochemical and industrial facilities along the Ship Channel, and the sprawling healthcare campuses in the Texas Medical Center. Candidates with experience in building automation systems, chiller plants, or industrial refrigeration stand out. Applying directly to facilities management companies and mechanical contractors serving Houston's energy and medical sectors gives you the best shot.
Which companies hire hvac technicians in Houston?
Houston hvac technician roles are posted by HTS Engineering - Heat Transfer Solutions, The Hunton, and Way Engineering and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's market includes a mix of large facilities management firms, regional mechanical contractors, and industrial operators tied to the energy and healthcare sectors.
Are there remote hvac technician jobs in Houston?
Yes, but only a small share, since hvac technician work is almost entirely hands-on and site-dependent. About 0% of hvac technician openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, typically limited to roles with estimating, project coordination, or dispatch responsibilities rather than field installation or service work.
How can I get a hvac technician job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Houston is an apprenticeship or helper role with a mechanical or refrigeration contractor serving the commercial and industrial sectors. Houston has a large base of union and open-shop contractors who hire entry-level helpers on active construction sites in areas like the Energy Corridor and Greenway Plaza. Community colleges such as San Jacinto College offer HVAC programs that some local contractors actively recruit from, giving new graduates a direct line to entry-level positions.
