Tips for Your Implementation Consultant Job Search
Tailor your resume to each platform
Implementation consultants are hired for specific platforms, so a resume that highlights Salesforce experience won't land you a NetSuite role. Rewrite your core competencies and project bullets to match the software stack named in each job posting.
Quantify your deployment outcomes directly
Hiring managers in this field want to see go-live dates hit, user adoption rates improved, or ticket volume reduced after your implementations. Replace vague responsibility statements with concrete results from your previous projects, even if you estimate the scope.
Filter openings by software vendor or industry vertical
Generic implementation consultant searches return a wide mix. Narrow your search by naming the specific platform or industry vertical you know best, such as Workday healthcare or SAP manufacturing, to surface the roles where your background is a direct match.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists implementation consultant openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a structured client scenario story
Interviewers consistently ask how you handled a difficult client, a failed go-live, or a scope change mid-project. Prepare two or three structured examples using a situation, action, and result format before your first screening call.
Negotiate based on project travel expectations
Compensation in this role varies meaningfully depending on whether the position requires on-site client travel. Clarify the expected travel percentage before your final interview, then use that to anchor your ask for base pay, per diem, or remote-work days.
Implementation Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most implementation consultants?
The companies hiring the most implementation consultants right now include ADP, Intuit, and Samsara, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and Arizona, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is concentrated at enterprise software vendors, Big Four consulting firms, and mid-market IT services companies.
How many implementation consultant jobs are remote?
About 80% of implementation consultant openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though travel requirements vary significantly by employer and project phase. Roles focused on post-go-live support, training, and configuration tend to offer more remote flexibility than those requiring on-site discovery sessions or cutover support.
How do you become an implementation consultant?
Start by building hands-on experience with a major enterprise platform, either through an entry-level admin or analyst role, a vendor certification program, or a structured internship. Build a portfolio of real or simulated deployment projects, document measurable outcomes, and target associate-level implementation roles at consulting firms or software vendors that provide formal onboarding and client exposure.
Can you get hired as an implementation consultant with little or no experience?
Yes, many firms hire associate or junior implementation consultants directly from business, IT, or accounting programs, provided you hold a relevant platform certification and can demonstrate project coordination skills. Focus on roles at software vendors or boutique consulting firms that run formal training programs, and lead with any client-facing or cross-functional work from internships, coursework, or volunteer projects.
What does the implementation consultant interview process look like?
Most processes start with a recruiter screening call focused on platform experience and availability for travel, followed by a technical or functional interview where you walk through a past deployment, respond to a client scenario, or demonstrate platform knowledge. Later rounds typically involve a hiring manager interview and, for senior roles, a case study or stakeholder presentation to assess how you scope and communicate complex projects.
Where can I find and apply to implementation consultant jobs?
You can find and apply to implementation consultant jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Search for roles that match your platform experience and industry background, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
