Senior Insurance Broker, Role Description
Harbor.ai is seeking a Senior Insurance Broker with 5+ years of experience to manage a book of commercial clients, lead complex placements, and mentor junior brokers. This role is 100% on-site in Houston, TX.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a commercial insurance broker, with a track record managing a client book.
- Active P&C license required; additional state/line licensing a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of commercial insurance products, including hard-to-place risk.
- Able to structure coverage across multiple carriers or layers for complex accounts.
- Strong carrier relationships and negotiation experience.
- Track record retaining and growing client relationships.
- Comfortable exercising independent judgment; able to mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Own and grow a book of commercial clients as primary point of contact.
- Structure and place coverage for complex or non-standard risk, including multi-carrier placements.
- Advise clients on risk exposure and coverage strategy.
- Oversee claims handling and escalation for book clients.
- Mentor junior brokers; conduct advanced policy reviews.
- Partner cross-functionally on underwriting and compliance matters affecting the book.
