Junior Analyst Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a junior analyst job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's finance and insurance firms along East Main Street, the government contracting organizations clustered near the state capitol, and the health systems expanding their analytics teams citywide. Candidates who demonstrate Excel proficiency, basic SQL, and familiarity with data visualization tools stand out in this market. Internship experience with a Richmond-area employer, even unpaid, converts to full-time offers at a notably high rate here.
Which companies hire junior analysts in Richmond?
Companies currently hiring junior analysts in Richmond include EAB, Ally Behavior Centers, and hhv, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Richmond's mix of regional banks, insurance carriers, state-adjacent contractors, and growing health systems means junior analyst openings are spread across both large institutions and mid-size specialty firms.
Are there remote junior analyst jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though availability depends on the specialization: financial and data analyst roles tend to offer remote or hybrid arrangements more often than compliance or operations analyst positions that require on-site system access. About 50% of junior analyst openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader flexibility among the city's tech-adjacent and financial services employers. Roles supporting state government contracts are most commonly required on-site.
How can I get a junior analyst job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through a rotational program or analyst-in-training role at one of the city's regional banks or insurance carriers, which routinely hire candidates straight from Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Richmond, and Randolph-Macon. Targeting financial operations coordinator or data associate roles first gives you the credentialed work history Richmond hiring managers look for before promoting into dedicated analyst titles. A portfolio of Excel models or a published Tableau dashboard from a capstone project can substitute for work experience at many local firms.
