Key Responsibility Summary

The Laboratory Assistant with Clinical Administrative Support is responsible for ensuring accurate coordination, processing, and documentation of laboratory testing while providing essential administrative and operational support to clinical staff. This role serves as a critical link between the staff, providers and the laboratory by managing test orders, tracking specimen status, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring timely communication of results and issues.

In addition, the position supports daily laboratory operations, including waived and moderate complexity testing, specimen processing, administrative tasks, inventory protocols, and equipment maintenance. The role also contributes to regulatory readiness, inventory management, and adherence to HIPAA, CLIA, and laboratory safety standards to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant laboratory services.

Qualifications Summary

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred completion of a Medical Assistant or Laboratory Assistant program and relevant certification (such as CMA or RMA). Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or laboratory setting, with hands-on experience in specimen processing, laboratory workflows, and use of LIS and/or EHR systems. Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards, CLIA regulations, and HIPAA compliance is required.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to coordinate effectively between clinical and laboratory teams. This role requires excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, along with strong communication abilities and a professional, team-oriented attitude. The ability to quickly learn new systems, adapt to changing workflows, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced laboratory environment is essential.
