Job Highlights:
This is a full time Phlebotomy Lab Manager position for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Job Summary:
Under general direction, manage the operations of assigned area(s) by acting as a technical advisor and by managing employees. Ensures appropriate resources, sets direction and manages employee performance.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Prioritizes the daily workflow by coordinating and delegating daily technical operations.
- Manages or works directly on projects of moderate to complex scope.
- Selects, schedules, and assigns staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary.
- Evaluates activities of assigned area(s) to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
- Ensures compliance with QA/QC standards required by laboratory regulatory agencies.
- Makes recommendations regarding the development of policies, goals and objectives.
- Implements unit or clinic policies, goals, and objectives.
- Monitors department financial performance.
- May function in the Laboratory Director capacity during the absence of the Laboratory Director.
- Acts as laboratory liaison to other departments.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education
Experience
Five years' technical experience in a laboratory setting including two years' concurrent supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
