Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
LOGISTICS ANALYST
Position Objective
- Inquire about contract freight rates, review, and process freight requests in FIS.
- Track rail shipments, follow up on delays, and submit service logs.
- Review and process freight abnormal invoices in a timely manner.
- Provide system and analytical support for logistics, distribution, and transportation initiatives.
- Assist with various departmental functions as needed.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Inquire with Class 1 rail carriers for freight rates to new potential customers, providing the business units with data for analysis.
- Review and process rail freight requests (FIS) and ensure timely setup for shipments.
- Evaluate contract and spot rate proposals for rail lanes to optimize transportation costs for contract renewal.
- Investigate carrier abnormal invoices and monitor accounts to maintain strong carrier relationships and company credit.
- Track and trace rail shipments, resolve delays, and submit service/shutdown logs to ensure operational efficiency.
- Submit and track freight claims with railroad companies to reduce potential financial losses.
- Provide support and backup to the rail/fleet team during absences, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree (Business or supply chain preferred)
- Preferably, 4 years of experience in transportation or logistics, including:
- Rail and truck operations
- Freight rate analysis
- Knowledge of railcar billing, diversion, and reshipment processes
- Proficient in sorting, analyzing, and managing data across multiple spreadsheets and scenarios.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to track open items and ensure timely follow-up.
- Good analytical, verbal and written skills. Must have working knowledge of MS Office, must be proficient in Excel.
- Up to 5% travel is required.
