BI Analyst Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in New Jersey?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a bi analyst in New Jersey, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skills. Most New Jersey employers expect a bachelor's degree in analytics, information systems, business, or a related field, with a portfolio of SQL queries, dashboards, or reporting projects. Certifications from Microsoft, Tableau, or Google Data Analytics strengthen a profile considerably for New Jersey's competitive financial services and pharma markets.
How much do BI analysts make in New Jersey?
BI analysts in New Jersey earn a median of about $135,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,720 for the lowest 10% to over $203,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in New Jersey?
Employers hiring bi analysts in New Jersey right now include Garces, Grabler & LeBrocq, BD, and Labcorp, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and large logistics operations means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than anchored to a single sector.
Which New Jersey cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
The cities with the most bi analyst openings in New Jersey are Jersey City, Perth Amboy, and Edison. Newark and Jersey City benefit from proximity to New York City's financial services ecosystem and large corporate campuses, while Princeton and its surrounding corridor draw heavy demand from pharmaceutical and life sciences companies like Johnson & Johnson and Bristol Myers Squibb.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of bi analyst openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Reporting, dashboard development, and data modeling tasks translate well to remote settings, though roles embedded in cross-functional teams at pharma or financial firms more commonly require on-site or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an analyst associate or junior reporting analyst role, which large New Jersey employers in pharma and financial services hire for regularly. Companies like Cognizant and Conduent run early-career programs that place candidates with foundational SQL and Excel skills into analytics support roles. Earning a Google Data Analytics or Microsoft Power BI certification, then building a project portfolio, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to these associate-level openings in New Jersey.
