Avantiico is a Microsoft solutions partner specializing in Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and AI-driven business applications. Our Reporting Practice helps clients across manufacturing, distribution, financial services, and other industries unlock the value of their D365 and operational data through modern analytics and AI.
Job Summary
We are hiring a Microsoft BI (Fabric) Engineer to join our Report Practice. In this role, you will design and build modern analytics solutions on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI for our clients, covering Lakehouses, Warehouses, semantic models, pipelines, notebooks, and AI-enabled experiences. This is a client-facing consulting role: you will run workshops, lead requirements gathering, and present to senior stakeholders. We are looking for someone who already works in an AI-forward way, using modern AI tools to deliver faster rather than just talking about them.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Design and build Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse solutions (Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Notebooks, and semantic models) using a medallion architecture.
- Develop Power BI semantic models and reports with strong DAX, performance tuning, and row-level security (RLS).
- Integrate Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management and Dataverse data into Fabric- or Synapse-based analytics environments.
- Author SQL, Python, and PySpark code for notebook development and data transformation.
- Build and maintain pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse / Fabric Pipelines.
- Manage source control, branching, and deployment using Git and Azure DevOps.
- Run client-facing workshops, design sessions, and status calls; translate business requirements into solutions and present to senior stakeholders.
- Build AI-enabled experiences on top of client data and use modern AI tools to speed up your own delivery.
- Write clean documentation and conduct knowledge transfers for clients and team members.
- Additionally, this role will assist in pre-sales/marketing activities including but not limited to producing written content, short videos, webinars, discovery calls, and in-person presentations.
- Stay current with Microsoft updates, new features, and best practices.
Required Skills / Abilities
- 4+ years hands-on with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Synapse (Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Notebooks, semantic models), including at least one solution you took to production and can speak about in detail.
- Strong Power BI: DAX, semantic modeling, performance tuning, and row-level security (RLS).
- Advanced SQL and Python / PySpark for notebook development.
- Medallion architecture experience (Bronze / Silver / Gold).
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM or Dataverse integration experience, or willingness to ramp up quickly.
- Azure Data Factory / Synapse Pipelines.
- Git / Azure DevOps for source control and deployment.
- Client-facing consulting experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- You’ve built something real with AI and can show it. A working agent, a copilot-style assistant, or an automation that saved you or a client in real time. We care about what you shipped and the thinking behind it more than which tool you used.
- Microsoft AI stack experience is a plus. If you built it with something else, bring it and be ready to walk us through how and why.
- Able to discuss experience with a Microsoft Fabric solution all the way to production, the kind where you handled source control and releases, kept performance and cost in check, and handled real Microsoft Dynamics 365 data.
- Current certification a plus, or the ability to obtain after joining within 90 days of employment: DP-600, DP-700. Other preferred certifications include but not limited to: PL-300, AB-900, AZ-104, AZ-305.
- Domain experience in manufacturing, energy, financial services, or retail.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to work from a home office and follow work-from-home best practices. Travel requirements up to 25% for clients, and company on-site work, retreats or workshops.

BI Analyst Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in California?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a bi analyst in California, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skills. Most California employers expect a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, business analytics, or computer science. Building proficiency in SQL, Tableau or Power BI, and at least one cloud data platform, then completing a portfolio of real analytical projects, is the practical credential that gets candidates hired.
How much do BI analysts make in California?
BI analysts in California earn a median of about $141,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,480 for the lowest 10% to over $224,920 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in California?
Employers hiring bi analysts in California right now include Applied Materials, Penumbra, and Snap, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, large health systems, and major financial institutions means demand for analysts skilled in Tableau, SQL, and cloud BI tools remains consistent across the state year-round.
Which California cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
Irvine, Los Angeles, and Santa Clara have the most bi analyst openings in California. San Francisco and its surrounding Bay Area cities draw the most demand, driven by the density of technology and fintech headquarters there, while Los Angeles openings reflect the city's mix of media, entertainment, and healthcare employers, and San Diego's openings are anchored by its large biotech and defense sectors.
Are there remote bi analyst jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 28% of bi analyst openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the role suits asynchronous, screen-based work. The parts of the role most commonly done remotely are dashboard development, data modeling, and stakeholder reporting, while on-site work tends to be tied to embedded product or finance teams at California headquarters.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior analyst or data analyst associate roles at California's large technology companies, health systems like Kaiser Permanente or Sutter Health, or financial institutions, which run structured new-graduate programs. Lateral moves from adjacent roles such as reporting analyst, data coordinator, or financial analyst are common. A portfolio of projects built in Tableau or Power BI against publicly available datasets, paired with a Google Data Analytics or Microsoft Power BI certification, gives California candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only coursework.
Where can I find and apply to bi analyst jobs in California?
You can find and apply to bi analyst jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly from the listing.
