BI Analyst Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in Massachusetts?
Most bi analyst roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree in analytics, information systems, computer science, or a related discipline. There is no state-issued license for this role, so employers screen heavily on technical skills: SQL, a major BI tool, and demonstrated experience translating data into decisions. Many candidates in Massachusetts strengthen their candidacy with vendor certifications from Microsoft or Tableau and build a portfolio of dashboards before applying to roles in healthcare, finance, or tech.
How much do BI analysts make in Massachusetts?
BI analysts in Massachusetts earn a median of about $131,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,030 for the lowest 10% to over $206,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring bi analysts in Massachusetts right now include Eversource Energy, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Apellis Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's large healthcare systems, financial services firms, and insurance carriers are among the most consistent sources of bi analyst openings in the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
Boston, Newton, and Westwood account for the most bi analyst openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge drive the bulk of demand through their concentration of financial services firms, major hospital networks, and technology companies, while Worcester's growing healthcare and insurance sector adds a steady secondary market outside the immediate metro.
Are there remote bi analyst jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 79% of bi analyst openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how thoroughly desk-based this work is. The parts of the role most commonly offered remotely are dashboard development and recurring reporting, while stakeholder-facing work and cross-team sprint cycles tend to pull analysts back on-site at least part of the week.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a data analyst associate or junior reporting analyst role, which Massachusetts employers in healthcare and financial services use as structured on-ramps. Mass General Brigham, Liberty Mutual, and Fidelity each run rotational or associate analytics programs that do not require years of experience. Candidates who come in from adjacent roles such as data coordinator, operations analyst, or financial reporting specialist convert well. A completed Power BI or Tableau certification and a short portfolio of self-built dashboards materially improve interview outcomes in a competitive Boston-area candidate pool.
Where can I find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Massachusetts?
