BI Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bi analyst in Texas?
Most bi analysts in Texas enter the field with a bachelor's degree in business analytics, information systems, computer science, or a related discipline. There is no state-issued license required to work as a bi analyst in Texas. Employers typically expect demonstrated proficiency in tools like Power BI or Tableau, hands-on SQL skills, and a portfolio showing real reporting or dashboard work. Certifications from Microsoft or Tableau strengthen applications considerably.
How much do BI analysts make in Texas?
BI analysts in Texas earn a median of about $122,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,540 for the lowest 10% to over $170,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire bi analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring bi analysts in Texas right now include Amazon, Farmers Insurance, and Topgolf, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, large financial institutions, and health systems means hiring is broad across industries rather than limited to technology alone.
Which Texas cities have the most bi analyst jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most bi analyst openings in Texas. Houston's hiring is driven by the energy and healthcare sectors, Dallas by financial services, logistics, and corporate headquarters, while Austin's technology industry and growing startup ecosystem have expanded analytics demand significantly in recent years.
Are there remote bi analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of bi analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and output-driven nature of the work. Reporting, dashboard development, and data modeling tasks translate especially well to remote arrangements, making bi analyst one of the more location-flexible roles in the analytics space.
How can I get hired as a bi analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior analyst, reporting analyst, or data analyst associate role, which large Texas employers in healthcare, retail, and energy regularly post for candidates without deep experience. Building a portfolio of real dashboards using publicly available datasets, earning a Microsoft Power BI or Google Data Analytics certificate, and targeting companies like HEB, USAA, or Texas Health Resources that run structured associate programs gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants relying on a degree alone.
Where can I find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to bi analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
