About the Role

This is a working Lead role: part experienced materials handler, part logistics coordinator, and part onsite team leader.

The Property Logistics Lead owns the successful planning and execution of the physical logistics surrounding auction property. The Lead works hands-on alongside the team while also creating the pickup plan, scheduling people and vehicles, estimating costs, communicating routine logistics with consignors, enforcing safe handling standards, directing materials handlers and temporary labor, and making sure each trip is fully closed out.

This is not a desk-only management job, and it is not simply a mover/driver position. We are looking for someone who is highly capable in the physical work and who also creates order, anticipates problems, follows through, and can lead other people well.

What You Will Own

Plan and schedule consignment pickups from handoff through warehouse receipt, including staffing, vehicles, routes, equipment, supplies, timing, travel, and estimated cost.

Create reasonable transportation estimates using the company fee structure and the known scope of each pickup.

Communicate routine pickup logistics professionally with consignors and internal teams, and escalate client or operational issues appropriately.

Lead pickup execution while remaining actively involved in packing, lifting, loading, securement, driving, unloading, and handling.

Establish and enforce safe handling, packing, loading, and transportation standards; train employees and temporary labor on those standards.

Ensure incoming consignments are promptly acknowledged at a high level when received, including photos, temporary location, and any known damage or exceptions.

Direct Property Logistics Support team members and temporary labor; assign work, set expectations, and follow through on completion.

Coordinate heavy or high-risk property movement within the warehouse and for auction staging, teardown, buyer pickup, and company delivery as directed by the appropriate production team.

Own fleet, moving equipment, supply readiness, and routine maintenance schedules so vehicles and tools are safe, clean, organized, and ready to work.

Own trip closeout: make sure mileage, labor hours, expenses, receipts, allocations, property receipt, and exceptions are complete before Finance reconciles the trip.

Operate routine logistics work within approved budgets and company standards, and escalate significant safety, property, client, personnel, or financial issues promptly.

Provide interim oversight of routine facility upkeep and maintenance until that responsibility is reassigned as the organization develops.

Required Qualifications

Prior experience in moving, delivery, transportation, warehouse operations, furniture handling, art handling, household relocation, or a closely related field.

Strong hands-on experience safely moving, packing, loading, securing, and transporting furniture and fragile property.

Experience leading a crew, coordinating daily work, or directing other employees/contractors.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; confidence operating cargo vans and box trucks.

Ability to organize a job before departure and anticipate staffing, vehicle, equipment, supply, timing, access, and safety needs.

Dependable attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.

Professional communication with consignors, buyers, coworkers, vendors, and management.

Comfort with basic administrative work, including email, calendars, spreadsheets/forms, receipts, and expense documentation.

Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier/oversized items.

Ability to work in homes, warehouses, garages, basements, storage units, loading areas, and outdoor environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience handling antiques, artwork, high-value furniture, or fragile/irreplaceable property.

Experience estimating moving or transportation jobs, planning routes, or scheduling crews.

Experience tracking labor, mileage, trip expenses, or job costs.

Previous formal team-lead or supervisory experience.

Experience with preventive vehicle/equipment maintenance systems.

Comfort using dollies, moving straps, ramps, lift gates, ladders, and basic hand tools.

Schedule & Travel

The normal schedule is Monday-Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., but this role requires regular travel and schedule flexibility. Typical travel may include long one-day trips 1-2 times per week, overnight trips approximately 1-2 times per month, and occasional 3-4 day trips roughly every 8 weeks. Travel time is part of the work of the role.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
