Operations Manager Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations manager in Ohio?
Most operations manager roles in Ohio require a bachelor's degree in business, operations, supply chain, or a related field, though candidates with associate degrees and substantial hands-on supervisory experience do get hired, particularly in manufacturing and logistics. Ohio does not require a state-issued license to work as an operations manager, but earning a Lean Six Sigma certification or a Project Management Professional credential significantly strengthens your candidacy with major Ohio employers. Many start in team lead or supervisor roles before advancing.
How much do operations managers make in Ohio?
Operations managers in Ohio earn a median of about $97,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,400 for the lowest 10% to over $216,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire operations managers in Ohio?
Employers hiring operations managers in Ohio right now include CARVANA, DHL, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's deep manufacturing and logistics base means large companies here tend to hire operations managers at multiple locations and levels rather than for isolated openings.
Which Ohio cities have the most operations manager jobs?
Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland have the most operations manager openings in Ohio. Columbus leads because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, distribution centers, and healthcare networks, while Cleveland's industrial base and Cincinnati's consumer goods and logistics clusters drive consistent demand in those metros, making all three strong markets for operations management candidates at every level.
Are there remote operations manager jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're rare. Operations management is fundamentally a hands-on, site-based role focused on overseeing people, processes, and facilities, which limits remote options significantly. About 19% of operations manager openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those postings tend to cover functions like process improvement analysis, reporting, or multi-site coordination rather than day-to-day floor or facility oversight.
How can I get hired as a operations manager in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a team lead, shift supervisor, or assistant manager role first, then building toward operations management over time. Large Ohio employers like Amazon's fulfillment centers, Cardinal Health distribution sites, and Ohio Health system facilities run structured leadership development programs that bring in candidates without prior management titles. Earning a Lean Six Sigma White or Yellow Belt credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge, and roles in production planning, inventory control, or logistics coordination are common lateral moves that lead into operations management in Ohio.
Where can I find and apply to operations manager jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to operations manager jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated regularly. Find roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
