Operations Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations manager in Georgia?
Most operations manager roles in Georgia require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related discipline, though a strong combination of associate-level credentials and progressive supervisory experience is accepted by many employers. Georgia does not issue a state license for the operations manager role itself, but candidates pursuing manufacturing or logistics careers often strengthen their profile with certifications like Six Sigma Green Belt or Certified Supply Chain Professional recognized by Georgia employers. Starting in coordinator or team lead roles at distribution centers, hospital systems, or manufacturers is the most common path into management here.
How much do operations managers make in Georgia?
Operations managers in Georgia earn a median of about $103,730 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,440 for the lowest 10% to over $237,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire operations managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring operations managers in Georgia right now include CVS Health, Walgreens, and The Home Depot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major port infrastructure at Savannah, and one of the busiest air cargo hubs in the world at Hartsfield-Jackson means consistent demand from both corporate and logistics-focused employers.
Which Georgia cities have the most operations manager jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Kennesaw have the most operations manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it is home to corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and the world's busiest passenger airport, while Savannah's role as the largest container port on the East Coast drives significant demand for logistics and supply chain operations managers, and Augusta's growing healthcare and cybersecurity sectors round out the distribution.
Are there remote operations manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of operations manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the reality that most operations roles require on-site presence to manage teams, facilities, and workflows. The functions most likely to allow remote flexibility are corporate operations analysts, business process managers, and roles focused on systems oversight rather than direct floor or facility management.
How can I get hired as a operations manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying for team lead, shift supervisor, or operations coordinator positions, which large Georgia employers like Coca-Cola, Georgia-Pacific, and Wellstar Health System use as feeder roles into full management. Warehouse and fulfillment centers in the Atlanta metro and around the Savannah port regularly hire entry-level supervisors and provide structured advancement. Earning a project management or lean operations certificate while in a coordinator role signals readiness for promotion and gives candidates an edge over applicants with equivalent experience but no formal credentials.
Where can I find and apply to operations manager jobs in Georgia?
