Marketing Intern Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a marketing intern job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's strongest hiring sectors: biotech and life sciences firms clustered in Kendall Square and the Seaport, financial services companies in Back Bay and the Financial District, and the city's dense network of universities and edtech startups. Candidates who can show familiarity with content strategy, social media analytics, or email marketing tools stand out. Applying directly through company career pages and attending Boston-area marketing meetups also gives you an edge over applicants submitting cold applications from outside the city.
Which companies hire marketing interns in Boston?
Boston marketing intern roles are posted by Highgate, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Bozzuto and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's mix of established financial institutions, research-driven biotech companies, and a thriving startup ecosystem means internship opportunities range from scrappy early-stage teams in the Seaport to large in-house marketing departments in Back Bay.
Are there remote marketing intern jobs in Boston?
Yes, though availability depends on the role. Content, analytics, and digital marketing tasks are commonly done remotely, while event, field, or brand activation work typically requires on-site presence. About 79% of marketing intern openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how many of the city's tech and biotech employers have adopted flexible arrangements. Research and content-focused internships at Boston's university-affiliated organizations tend to be the most remote-friendly.
How can I get a marketing intern job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is targeting the city's large university ecosystem, including campus marketing offices, alumni relations departments, and student-run agencies at schools like Northeastern, BU, and Emerson, which regularly hire students with minimal formal experience. Boston's startup scene in the Seaport and Kendall Square also favors candidates who bring energy and basic digital skills over polished resumes. Building a small portfolio through campus projects, club involvement, or volunteer social media work for a local nonprofit or small business makes a meaningful difference.
Which industries hire the most marketing interns in Boston?
Most marketing intern openings in Boston sit in Education, Hospitality & Tourism, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's identity as a hub for life sciences research, world-class universities, and a growing fintech sector creates consistent intern demand, as these organizations need marketing support for conferences, digital campaigns, and brand awareness year-round.
