Entry Level Medical Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level medical assistant job?
Focus on completing a medical assistant program, externship, or clinical rotation, then highlight any patient-facing experience on your resume. Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who are certified or actively pursuing certification, familiar with electronic health records, and comfortable with both clinical and administrative tasks. A strong externship reference can substitute for paid work history at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level medical assistants?
Companies hiring entry level medical assistants right now include Ascension, Optum, and NYU Langone Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Physician group practices, urgent care networks, and large health system outpatient clinics tend to post the most entry level openings because they have high patient volume and regularly onboard new graduates.
Are there remote entry level medical assistant jobs?
Yes, though most medical assistant roles require in-person patient care. About 0% of entry level medical assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth support, prior authorization processing, or remote patient monitoring rather than hands-on clinical duties.
Are these new grad medical assistant jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior medical assistant roles. A new-grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts an externship or clinical rotation in place of paid work history, and does not require prior independent practice. If a listing mentions training provided or recent graduates encouraged to apply, it is a strong fit for new grads.
Which industries hire the most entry level medical assistants?
Entry Level medical assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because outpatient and primary care settings need a steady pipeline of clinical support staff and are structured to train new graduates alongside experienced team members.
