Medical Technologist Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a medical technologist in Colorado?
Colorado does not require a state-issued license for medical technologists, so the path centers on education and national certification. You need a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field, followed by passing the ASCP Board of Certification examination to earn the MT or MLS credential. Most Colorado employers list ASCP certification as a hard requirement, so completing an accredited program and sitting for that exam is the concrete first step.
Which companies hire medical technologists in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring medical technologists in Colorado include United Vein & Vascular Centers, Denver Health, and IDEXX Laboratories, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's large integrated health systems drive the bulk of consistent openings, particularly in the Denver metro and along the Front Range corridor.
Which Colorado cities have the most medical technologist jobs?
Denver, Aurora, and Montrose have the most medical technologist openings in Colorado. Denver anchors the market as home to major health systems and academic medical centers, while Colorado Springs and Aurora follow closely because of their large regional hospitals, military health facilities, and population growth driving sustained laboratory staffing needs.
Are there remote medical technologist jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Medical technologists work hands-on with specimens and instrumentation, which makes fully remote work uncommon for most positions. About 0% of medical technologist openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles tend to be in laboratory management, informatics, or quality assurance rather than bench work.
How can I get hired as a medical technologist in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a medical laboratory technician or phlebotomy role at a Colorado hospital and moving into a technologist position after gaining bench time. UCHealth and Children's Hospital Colorado have run new-graduate laboratory programs that pair recent graduates with experienced staff during an onboarding period. Completing your ASCP certification before applying, even without years of experience, gives you a strong edge because Colorado employers treat it as the baseline credential.
Where can I find and apply to medical technologist jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to medical technologist jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
