Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Mental Health Counselor (CDPVTC) at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center located in Thelma, Kentucky. The anticipated start date is February 16, 2026, with an expected salary of $50,000.
Responsibilities:
The Mental Health Counselor provides direct counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center (CDPVTC) in Thelma, Kentucky. Will provide outreach services, such as educational programming, faculty/staff consultations, and proactive prevention programs to promote increased student awareness of self-help skills and resources.
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or professional counseling with state certification or licensure, or eligibility for certification/licensure. Willing to seek clinical supervision as defined by licensure board, etc. Must reside in Johnson or a nearby county and be willing and able to work the evening shift.

Organizational Relationships:
The Mental Health Counselor reports to the CDPVTC Director of Physical Medicine. This position also closely interacts with clients and relatives, institutional personnel and interacts closely with the local mental health community including comprehensive care centers, rehabilitation centers, and other medical/psychiatric facilities.
Working Conditions:
The position is located in the Psychology Department of CDPVTC, and involves a 37.5 hour workweek that may include evening and weekend hours. Relatively high stress working conditions due to extent of case load and characteristics of clients.
