Entry Level Newscast Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level newscast director job?
Employers hiring at this level look for hands-on experience coordinating live broadcasts, whether through college newsrooms, student television stations, or internships at local affiliates. A demo reel that shows your ability to call shots, cue talent, and manage a rundown in real time gives you a concrete edge. Which companies hire entry level newscast directors?

Local television stations, regional news networks, and digital media outlets are the most active employers at this level, as they frequently build their directing pipelines from recent graduates and junior candidates.
Are there remote entry level newscast director jobs?
Yes, though most newscast director roles require an on-site presence in a control room. About 0% of entry level newscast director openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to involve digital-first or streaming news operations rather than traditional broadcast stations.
