NP Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a np job in Houston?
Target the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, where dozens of hospital systems and specialty practices hire nps across nearly every clinical area. Community health centers and multi-site urgent care networks throughout Harris County also post regularly. Candidates with acute care or specialty certification, bilingual Spanish skills, and experience with high-volume or underserved populations tend to move fastest through Houston hiring pipelines.
Which companies hire nps in Houston?
Houston np roles are posted by Houston Methodist, Baylor College of Medicine, and UTHealth Houston and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring landscape includes large academic medical systems, for-profit hospital networks, federally qualified health centers, and independent specialty groups concentrated in and around the Medical Center and Memorial City corridors.
Are there remote np jobs in Houston?
Yes, though remote np work is uncommon given the hands-on nature of most clinical roles. About 6% of np openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in telehealth urgent care, chronic disease management, or utilization review. Houston's strong health-tech and insurance sector supports more of these desk-based np roles than most markets its size.
How can I get a np job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through new-graduate residency and fellowship programs offered by the Texas Medical Center member institutions, which are structured specifically for nps without clinical NP experience. Federally qualified health centers across Harris County also hire new graduates willing to work in underserved communities. A clinical rotation completed at a Houston facility, a letter of support from a preceptor at that site, and any bilingual ability significantly improve local hiring chances.
Which industries hire the most nps in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most nps in Houston are Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's status as a global energy hub also means occupational health and corporate wellness clinics tied to the oil and gas sector create np demand that is largely unique to this market.
