Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cardiology nurse practitioner in Texas?
You must hold an active nurse practitioner license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited graduate nursing program at the master's or doctoral level and passing a national NP certification exam through ANCC or AANP. Texas requires NPs to maintain a practice agreement with a physician, which most cardiology employers establish as part of onboarding. Subspecialty experience in cardiovascular units or outpatient cardiology clinics strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do cardiology nurse practitioners make in Texas?
Cardiology nurse practitioners in Texas earn a median of about $131,670 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,880 for the lowest 10% to over $161,980 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cardiology nurse practitioners in Texas?
Employers hiring cardiology nurse practitioners in Texas right now include Texas Health Resources, University of Texas Medical Branch, and Cook Children's Health Care System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large, multi-site health systems and freestanding cardiovascular specialty groups means consistent openings appear across both hospital-based and outpatient cardiology settings throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most cardiology nurse practitioner jobs?
Fort Worth, Dallas, and Galveston have the most cardiology nurse practitioner openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense cluster of academic medical centers, cardiovascular specialty hospitals, and the Texas Medical Center, while Dallas and San Antonio generate steady volume through large regional health systems and growing suburban cardiology practices serving rapidly expanding populations.
Are there remote cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Cardiology nurse practitioner work is predominantly hands-on and clinic or hospital-based, limiting remote options significantly. About 0% of cardiology nurse practitioner openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the roles that do offer flexibility tend to be in telehealth cardiac triage, remote patient monitoring, or care coordination for chronic heart failure management programs.
How can I get hired as a cardiology nurse practitioner in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate NP residency or fellowship program, and large Texas health systems including Baylor Scott and White Health, Memorial Hermann, and UT Southwestern Medical Center run structured post-graduate NP programs that accept candidates without prior NP-level cardiology experience. Lateral moves from positions as a cardiac care unit RN or cardiovascular stepdown nurse are common and valued. Completing your ACLS certification and requesting rotations in cardiology during your NP clinical hours strengthens your application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience, specialty focus, and preferred location across the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
