Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cardiology nurse practitioner in North Carolina?
You must hold an active nurse practitioner license issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited graduate NP program and passing a national certification exam such as the ANCC or AANP. After licensure, most North Carolina employers expect cardiology-specific clinical experience or a postgraduate cardiology fellowship. North Carolina uses a collaborative practice model, so new NPs must also establish a collaborative practice agreement with a supervising physician before practicing independently.
How much do cardiology nurse practitioners make in North Carolina?
Cardiology nurse practitioners in North Carolina earn a median of about $128,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,530 for the lowest 10% to over $164,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cardiology nurse practitioners in North Carolina?
Employers hiring cardiology nurse practitioners in North Carolina right now include Mission Health, UNC Health, and 77 Consultants, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. North Carolina's large integrated health systems anchor most of this hiring, with cardiology divisions operating across both urban medical centers and regional community hospital campuses throughout the state.
Which North Carolina cities have the most cardiology nurse practitioner jobs?
The cities with the most cardiology nurse practitioner openings in North Carolina are Asheville, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill. Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham dominate because of the scale of Atrium Health and the Duke Health and UNC Health systems, while Greensboro and Winston-Salem draw consistent openings from Cone Health and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, which run dedicated cardiovascular service lines across the Piedmont Triad region.
Are there remote cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, but they're rare. Cardiology nurse practitioner work is largely hands-on, requiring direct patient assessment, procedure support, and in-person clinic presence. About 17% of cardiology nurse practitioner openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those positions tend to be concentrated in telehealth follow-up care and chronic disease management rather than acute or procedural cardiology roles.
How can I get hired as a cardiology nurse practitioner in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a postgraduate NP residency or fellowship in cardiovascular care, which programs like those at Duke Health and UNC Health run specifically for new graduate NPs. Candidates who have worked as registered nurses in cardiac step-down, telemetry, or critical care units hold a strong advantage and often transition through internal NP posting pipelines at major North Carolina health systems. Obtaining ACLS certification and cardiology-focused continuing education before applying strengthens any application from a candidate with limited NP experience.
Where can I find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to North Carolina employers. Find roles that fit your experience and location preference and apply directly through the listings.
