Our team delivers comprehensive cardiovascular care — from PCI procedures to inpatient consultations across Tampa General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital. We are expanding our APP coverage team and are looking for a motivated APRN or PA who thrives in a fast-paced academic hospital and clinic environment and can operate with confidence.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA-C) to join our growing team in a hybrid inpatient/outpatient role. This is an excellent opportunity for an APP with a passion for cardiovascular medicine to work alongside an experienced interventional cardiologist in a high-acuity, dynamic setting.
Schedule & Responsibilities
- Inpatient Coverage: Rounding and co-management of cardiology patients at Tampa General Hospital or St. Joseph's Hospital, including consults, admissions, and daily patient management
- Outpatient Clinic: Two half-day clinic sessions per week at our South Tampa office
- Perform and interpret 12-lead ECGs; review relevant diagnostic data including echocardiograms, cardiac biomarkers, telemetry, and imaging studies
- Communicate clinical findings and recommendations to consulting teams in a timely and professional manner — verbally and in the medical record
- Initiate and titrate cardiovascular pharmacotherapy including anticoagulation, antiarrhythmics, heart failure regimens, and antiplatelet therapy under physician oversight
- Facilitate pre-procedure evaluations and post-procedure monitoring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, PCI, or other interventional procedures
- Coordinate inpatient-to-outpatient transitions and discharge planning, including scheduling follow-up appointments with Ascent Cardiology
- Communicate directly with attending interventional cardiologist regarding any urgent or complex patient concerns throughout the shift
- Maintain compliant, timely documentation in the hospital EMR (Epic) for all patient encounters
- Adhere to Hospital credentialing, compliance, and scope-of-practice requirements for advanced practice providers
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Florida APRN (CNP) or PA-C licensure in good standing
- Current DEA registration or eligibility
- Board certification: ANCC, AANP (NP) or NCCPA (PA) — cardiology or acute care certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in cardiology, cardiac step-down, cardiac ICU, or internal medicine with substantial cardiovascular exposure
- Demonstrated competency in interpreting ECGs, reading cardiac biomarker trends, and managing common cardiovascular conditions (ACS, HFrEF/HFpEF, AF/flutter, hypertensive urgency)
- Proficiency with Epic EMR (required or ability to obtain TGH Epic credentials)
- BLS and ACLS certification (current)
- Eligibility for medical staff credentialing and privileging at Tampa General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior inpatient cardiology APP experience in an inpatient medical setting or tertiary care hospital
- Familiarity with interventional cardiology workflows and practice
- Experience with anticoagulation management (heparin drips, DOAC bridging)
- Existing TGH medical staff credentials or privileges
- Strong communication skills and ability to function independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
