- Board certification or active candidacy status with the American Board of Radiology

Tips for Your Radiologist Job Search
List subspecialty certifications prominently on your CV
Hiring committees distinguish general diagnostic radiologists from subspecialty-trained candidates quickly. If you hold a Certificate of Added Qualification in neuroradiology, breast imaging, or interventional radiology, place it in the header of your CV alongside your ABR certification status.
Target openings that match your modality strengths
Radiology job listings often specify workflow priorities like high-volume CT, MRI, or fluoroscopy. Read the clinical mix before applying and tailor your cover letter to the modalities that make up most of your read volume, using specific case-count language your program tracked.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists radiologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare case examples for the clinical interview
Many radiology interviews include a working session where you interpret films or discuss a recent complex case. Prepare two or three cases that show your reasoning process, your communication with referring clinicians, and how you handled an ambiguous or critical finding.
Negotiate call schedule before signing any offer
Base compensation alone doesn't capture total burden in radiology. Ask specifically about overnight teleradiology call obligations, weekend frequency, and whether call is shared with locums coverage. Those details reshape the practical value of any offer more than headline pay does.
Verify state licensure timelines before accepting
Some states take months to process a new radiology license, and your start date depends on it. Confirm the expected processing window for the state where the role is located and factor that into your timeline before committing to a start date with the employer.
Radiologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most radiologists?
The companies hiring the most radiologists right now include Medical University of South Carolina, TridentCare, and Advocate Aurora Health, with the largest share of openings in South Carolina, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is concentrated in large health systems and national teleradiology groups that maintain high imaging volumes year-round.
How many radiologist jobs are remote?
About 6% of radiologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting steady growth in teleradiology platforms that allow off-site interpretation. Fully remote opportunities are most common in diagnostic subspecialties like overnight reads, general diagnostic coverage, and preliminary reporting for community hospitals.
How do you become a radiologist?
You become a radiologist by completing a four-year medical degree, followed by a one-year internship or transitional year, then a four-year diagnostic radiology residency accredited by the ACGME. After residency, most radiologists complete a one- to two-year subspecialty fellowship. You must then pass ABR qualifying and certifying examinations and obtain a state medical license before practicing independently.
Can you get hired as a radiologist with limited experience?
New graduates can get hired directly out of residency or fellowship into attending roles, particularly at community hospitals, teleradiology companies, and outpatient imaging centers that build structured onboarding around board-eligible candidates. Emphasizing subspecialty fellowship training, strong case volume from residency, and willingness to cover a broad modality mix strengthens your candidacy when you lack years of post-training experience.
What does the radiologist interview process look like?
The radiologist interview process typically begins with a phone or video screening with a physician recruiter or department chair, followed by an on-site or virtual day that includes meetings with radiology leadership, a tour of the reading room and imaging suites, and sometimes a case review session. Academic positions may also include a presentation. Final-stage discussions usually cover call schedule, workflow expectations, and partnership or shareholder tracks before an offer is extended.
Where can I find and apply to radiologist jobs?
You can find and apply to radiologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from hospital systems, imaging centers, teleradiology groups, and academic practices across the United States. Find roles that match your subspecialty, modality mix, and preferred setting, then apply directly to each listing from the same page.
