Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cardiology nurse practitioner in New York?
You must hold an active Nurse Practitioner license issued by the New York State Education Department, which requires completing an accredited graduate nursing program and passing the national NP certification exam in a relevant specialty such as Adult-Gerontology or Family practice. New York also requires a collaborative practice agreement with a physician in most outpatient settings. Cardiology-specific training through fellowships or supervised clinical rotations at New York academic medical centers strengthens candidacy considerably.
How much do cardiology nurse practitioners make in New York?
Cardiology nurse practitioners in New York earn a median of about $153,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $112,730 for the lowest 10% to over $198,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cardiology nurse practitioners in New York?
Employers hiring cardiology nurse practitioners in New York right now include Bassett Healthcare Network, Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and Essen Health Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of academic medical centers and large integrated health systems means openings appear consistently across both hospital-employed and independent cardiology group settings statewide.
Which New York cities have the most cardiology nurse practitioner jobs?
Bronx, Cooperstown, and New York have the most cardiology nurse practitioner openings in New York. New York City drives the largest share of demand through its concentration of world-renowned academic medical centers and specialty cardiovascular institutes, while Buffalo and Rochester generate consistent openings through anchor institutions like Kaleida Health and the University of Rochester Medical Center serving large regional patient populations.
Are there remote cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Cardiology nurse practitioners primarily perform hands-on patient assessments, procedures, and direct clinical care that cannot be done remotely. About 0% of cardiology nurse practitioner openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth follow-up visits, chronic disease management consultations, or care coordination roles rather than full acute or procedural care.
How can I get hired as a cardiology nurse practitioner in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a nurse practitioner residency or fellowship program focused on cardiology or internal medicine, several of which are offered through large New York systems including Northwell Health and NewYork-Presbyterian. Candidates coming from RN roles in cardiac ICU, step-down, or telemetry units carry a strong practical foundation. Completing your New York State NP license and a relevant national board certification before applying gives you a clear competitive edge over candidates still in process.
Where can I find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to cardiology nurse practitioner jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from employers actively hiring right now. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialty focus and apply directly to each one.
