Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a nurse practitioner or physician assistant job in Boston?
Boston's strongest hiring comes from the Longwood Medical Area's academic medical centers, the city's federally qualified health centers, and a growing network of urgent care and specialty outpatient clinics. Candidates who can demonstrate experience in primary care, cardiology, or oncology stand out locally. Showing familiarity with high-volume, team-based care models common at Boston teaching hospitals gives applicants a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire nurse practitioner or physician assistants in Boston?
Employers hiring nurse practitioner or physician assistants in Boston right now include Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Boston Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's hiring landscape is anchored by large academic health systems alongside a mix of community health centers and specialty group practices spread across the city and inner suburbs.
Are there remote nurse practitioner or physician assistant jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for this role given the hands-on clinical nature of most positions. About 6% of nurse practitioner or physician assistant openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, primarily covering telehealth consult roles and care management positions. Those are most common among Boston-based insurers and large health systems with established virtual care programs.
How can I get a nurse practitioner or physician assistant job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through residency or fellowship programs offered by major academic health systems in the Longwood Medical Area, which are specifically designed to build new graduate clinical experience. Community health centers serving Boston neighborhoods like Roxbury and East Boston regularly hire new graduates for primary care roles. Volunteering or completing clinical rotations with Boston-area employers before graduation is one of the strongest differentiators locally.
Which industries hire the most nurse practitioner or physician assistants in Boston?
Boston nurse practitioner or physician assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's identity as a global hub for academic medicine, biotech, and community health drives consistent demand across those sectors, keeping hiring active even outside peak recruitment periods.
