Registered Dietitian Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered dietitian in Massachusetts?
To practice as a registered dietitian in Massachusetts, you must hold a license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Dietitians, which requires completing an accredited degree program, finishing a supervised dietetic internship, and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration credentialing exam. Once you have the RDN credential and pass a background check, you apply for the Massachusetts license directly through the Board. Licenses must be renewed biennially with continuing education hours.
How much do registered dietitians make in Massachusetts?
Registered dietitians in Massachusetts earn a median of about $76,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,310 for the lowest 10% to over $107,150 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire registered dietitians in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring registered dietitians in Massachusetts right now include Healthcare Services, Boston Medical Center, and Boston Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's large academic medical centers and regional health systems drive the bulk of consistent openings, particularly for clinical and outpatient dietitian roles across the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most registered dietitian jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Massachusetts have the most registered dietitian openings in Massachusetts. Boston dominates because of its concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and large outpatient networks, while Worcester and Springfield anchor the central and western regions through major regional health systems that serve large, geographically spread patient populations.
Are there remote registered dietitian jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're uncommon. Most registered dietitian roles require direct patient interaction, making fully remote work less typical than in desk-based fields. About 53% of registered dietitian openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most clinical positions. Telehealth nutrition counseling and corporate wellness consulting positions are the sub-specialties most likely to offer remote schedules.
How can I get hired as a registered dietitian in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate clinical dietitian positions at Massachusetts's larger hospital systems, where Mass General Brigham and UMass Memorial Health periodically onboard recent dietetic internship completers into staff dietitian roles. Completing a Massachusetts-based dietetic internship, especially those affiliated with Boston-area teaching hospitals, often creates a direct pipeline to entry-level openings at the host institution. Candidates with food service management or nutrition assistant experience in healthcare settings also move into registered dietitian roles once they clear licensure.
Where can I find and apply to registered dietitian jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to registered dietitian jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings posted by Massachusetts employers. Find roles that match your specialty and experience level and apply directly to each one.
