Nursing Assistant Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing assistant in Washington?
To become a nursing assistant in Washington, you must complete a state-approved training program and pass the Washington State Nursing Assistant Competency Examination, which covers both a written test and a skills demonstration. After passing, you register with the Washington State Department of Health, which maintains the Nursing Assistant Registry. Programs are offered through community colleges, vocational schools, and some long-term care facilities across the state.
Which companies hire nursing assistants in Washington?
Companies currently hiring nursing assistants in Washington include SYNERGY HomeCare, Alumus, and Regency Pacific, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's dense concentration of integrated health systems and nonprofit hospital networks means these employers tend to hire on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Which Washington cities have the most nursing assistant jobs?
Tacoma, Seattle, and Yakima have the most nursing assistant openings in Washington. Seattle anchors the market with its large cluster of major hospital systems and academic medical centers, while Spokane and Tacoma drive demand through regional health networks and a high density of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities serving aging populations in those metro areas.
Are there remote nursing assistant jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing assistant work is fundamentally hands-on and requires direct patient contact, so the vast majority of roles are on-site. About 0% of nursing assistant openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve telephonic patient monitoring or care coordination support rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get hired as a nursing assistant in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a state-approved nursing assistant training program, many of which are offered tuition-free or employer-sponsored through Washington long-term care facilities that hire graduates directly. Systems like Providence and MultiCare run new hire orientation tracks for registered CNAs without prior work history. Candidates transitioning from roles like home health aide, medical assistant, or patient transport have a clear advantage. Earning your Washington Department of Health nursing assistant registration before applying strengthens any application significantly.
