Overview:

Salary: $70K-$90K

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides assessment, intervention, consultation, and support services for individuals with disabilities and complex access needs throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This role focuses on improving independence, participation, access, and quality of life through evidence-based occupational therapy services, with preferred experience in Assistive Technology (AT).

This position provides services throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island and requires frequent regional travel between schools, community settings, partner sites, and other service locations. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly throughout both states.

Responsibilities:

Assessment and Intervention:

- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with disabilities to determine occupational therapy and Assistive Technology (AT) needs.
- Evaluate occupational therapy areas including, but not limited to, motor development (gross and fine motor), visual perceptual and visual motor skills, access to curriculum and written expression, sensory and environmental access, and seating and positioning with emphasis on function, access, and ergonomics.
- Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills through assessment of strengths and needs, task analysis, and modification of environments, instruction, and adaptive tools.
- Administer and interpret assistive technology evaluations and functional access assessments.
- Collect and analyze data regarding the individual’s current abilities, preferences, goals, and support needs.
- Consider diverse learning styles and functional abilities to adapt environments, instruction, and tools to maximize independence and participation.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to the individual’s goals and functional needs.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services and support implementation of adaptive and assistive technology strategies when appropriate.

Training, Collaboration, and Consultation:

- Train individuals, families, caregivers, educational teams, and support staff in the use of AT tools, adaptive equipment, and therapeutic strategies.
- Ensure that occupational therapy recommendations and AT tools are integrated into daily routines, educational settings, workplace environments, and community activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, families, caregivers, physicians, and other professionals to support coordinated care and successful implementation of recommendations.
- Provide ongoing communication, consultation, and support to team members to monitor progress and make appropriate adjustments.

Documentation, Compliance, and Ethics:

- Prepare clear, concise, and timely evaluation reports that include findings, recommendations, goals, and intervention plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress, modifications, and outcomes related to occupational therapy and AT services.
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, payer, and documentation requirements.

Advocacy and Education:

- Advocate for individuals with disabilities to ensure access to appropriate occupational therapy, assistive technology resources, accommodations, and services.
- Provide educational workshops, trainings, and consultation to professionals, families, caregivers, and community members regarding AT and occupational therapy supports.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality when working with sensitive information and assistive technology-related data.

Qualifications

- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.
- Current professional licensure as an Occupational Therapist in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, or eligibility for licensure.
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification preferred or required based on state licensure standards.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and complex access needs across a variety of settings.
- Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification preferred or willingness to pursue certification.
- Preferred experience in Assistive Technology assessment, implementation, and training.
- Experience developing individualized, measurable, and functional intervention goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must hold a valid drivers’ license and have access to an operational and insured vehicle to travel between sites.
