Oil And Gas Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a oil and gas in Oklahoma?
Most oil and gas roles in Oklahoma require at minimum a high school diploma plus hands-on field experience, while engineering and geoscience positions require a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission oversees operator licensing and permitting for production activity in the state. Entry-level field roles often start through vocational programs or direct hire by an operating company, with certifications such as well control training from recognized industry programs adding a meaningful edge.
Which companies hire oil and gass in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma oil and gas roles are posted by Michels, Quest Global, and R.R. Oil and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Oklahoma's deep concentration of independent producers, midstream operators, and oilfield services companies means hiring cycles tend to track closely with commodity prices and basin activity in the Anadarko and Ardmore regions.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most oil and gas jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Noble account for the greatest concentration of oil and gas openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City leads because it is home to major independents like Devon Energy and Continental Resources, Tulsa drives midstream and pipeline hiring anchored by ONEOK and Williams Companies, and smaller cities like Ardmore and Enid reflect activity tied to active basin operations and regional field offices in their surrounding areas.
Are there remote oil and gas jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're rare. The majority of oil and gas work in Oklahoma is tied to physical field operations, drilling sites, or processing facilities that require on-site presence. About 33% of oil and gas openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those positions tend to be concentrated in corporate functions such as reservoir engineering analysis, land administration, and geological data interpretation.
How can I get hired as a oil and gas in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for candidates without experience is applying directly for lease operator trainee or production technician roles at Oklahoma independents and oilfield services companies that run structured onboarding programs. Companies such as Devon Energy and Halliburton's Oklahoma operations hire entry-level field personnel and provide on-the-job training. Completing a well control fundamentals certification, earning an associate degree in petroleum technology from Tulsa Community College or Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee, or gaining a commercial driver's license all give candidates a measurable advantage when competing for those openings.
