Director of Process Excellence & SOP Development
Job Description:
Construction | Automotive | Restaurant Divisions
Position Overview:
The Director of Process & SOP Development is a senior cross-functional leader responsible for driving operational excellence, consistency, and scalability across three distinct business divisions: Construction, Automotive, and Restaurants. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role serves as the connective tissue between divisions—standardizing processes, enabling shared services, and ensuring that each business unit has the operational infrastructure needed to grow efficiently and profitably.
This leader will act as both a strategic partner and a hands-on operator, bringing order and structure to a complex, multi-industry enterprise while preserving the unique culture and cadence of each division.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Operations & Strategy
- Design and implement a unified operational framework that spans Construction, Automotive, and Restaurant divisions while respecting division-specific workflows.
- Partner with division heads to identify operational gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities across all three business lines.
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise-level operational initiatives, including systems integration, vendor consolidation, and shared service functions.
- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting cadences to provide leadership with real-time visibility into operational performance across all divisions.
- Drive annual and quarterly operational planning processes in alignment with organizational goals.
Cross-Divisional Leadership
- Serve as a primary liaison between division-level operations teams and executive leadership, facilitating communication, alignment, and accountability.
- Lead cross-functional project teams on enterprise initiatives such as technology rollouts, policy deployments, and compliance programs.
- Identify and cultivate operational synergies across divisions (e.g., shared procurement, fleet management, vendor relationships, staffing models).
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and servant leadership across all operational teams.
Process Improvement & Standardization
- Audit existing processes within each division and develop standardized SOPs, playbooks, and best-practice toolkits.
- Lead process reengineering efforts to reduce waste, improve throughput, and increase team effectiveness.
- Evaluate, recommend, and oversee the implementation of operational technology solutions (ERP, HRIS, POS, project management platforms).
- Monitor compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and brand standards across all divisions.
Financial Oversight & Cost Management
- Partner with Finance to manage operational budgets across divisions, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or culture.
- Analyze financial and operational data to develop actionable recommendations for division leaders.
- Oversee vendor contract negotiations, procurement strategies, and cost management programs at the enterprise level.
People, Operations & Culture
- Collaborate with HR on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design across divisions.
- Support the development and deployment of the company’s Employee Incentive Program, ensuring divisional rollout aligns with enterprise objectives.
- Coach and develop operations managers and directors within each division, building a strong bench of operational talent.
- Model and reinforce the organization’s culture and values across all interactions and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Development Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Or, 8–12+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, with demonstrated success managing across multiple business units or industries.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a complex, multi-site environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, and operational cost structures.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Track record of implementing operational systems, process improvements, and change management programs.
Preferred:
- Experience in two or more of the following industries: commercial construction, automotive retail/dealership, or food & beverage/restaurant operations.
- Familiarity with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Basecamp), dealership management systems (e.g., Dealer Socket, Dealer Center), or restaurant/POS platforms (e.g., Toast, Aloha).
- Experience designing or administering multi-division incentive compensation or bonus programs.
