How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Customer Solutions Specialist
Target companies with H-1B sponsorship history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Customer Solutions Specialist roles by employers who have sponsored H-1B visas before. Past sponsorship behavior is the most reliable signal that a company will sponsor you when your OPT ends.
Clarify the specialty occupation connection early
Customer Solutions roles that require a specific degree field, such as business administration or communications, qualify as specialty occupations. Confirm the job description references a required degree, not just a preferred one, before applying.
Quantify your customer impact metrics
Employers and immigration attorneys both need evidence of specialized contribution. Document response times improved, retention rates influenced, or escalation rates reduced. Concrete numbers make your H-1B petition stronger and your resume more competitive.
Highlight cross-functional collaboration in your resume
Customer Solutions Specialists who work closely with product, engineering, or sales teams demonstrate strategic value beyond support. Employers who see this on your resume are more likely to view sponsorship as a business-critical investment worth pursuing.
Ask about sponsorship policy before your first interview
Confirming sponsorship willingness before investing time in multiple interview rounds saves weeks of effort. Ask your recruiter directly whether the company sponsors H-1B visas for Customer Solutions roles. A clear answer early avoids wasted applications.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do Customer Solutions Specialist roles qualify as specialty occupations for H-1B sponsorship?
Many do, but not all. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation when it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, such as business, communications, or information systems. Roles where any degree or no degree satisfies the requirement typically do not qualify. Review the job description carefully and look for language specifying a required, not just preferred, degree field.
Can I work as a Customer Solutions Specialist on OPT while waiting for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. Your F-1 OPT work authorization lets you work for any employer in a role related to your degree field. If your employer files an H-1B petition before your OPT expires and you are selected in the lottery, cap-gap protection automatically extends your work authorization through September 30, bridging the gap until your H-1B takes effect on October 1.
How do I find Customer Solutions Specialist jobs that sponsor OPT and H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters Customer Solutions Specialist listings by employers with sponsorship history. Generic job boards surface roles without any indication of visa sponsorship willingness, which wastes your limited OPT time. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you focus only on employers who have sponsored international candidates before.
Does a Customer Solutions Specialist role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Only if your degree is on the official STEM Designated Degree Program List and the role is directly related to that degree. A Customer Solutions Specialist at a technology company with a computer science or information systems degree could qualify. A communications or business degree typically does not fall under STEM OPT. Confirm your degree code with your DSO before applying for the 24-month extension.
What should I do if a Customer Solutions Specialist employer says they don't sponsor visas?
Some employers say this as a default policy without having fully explored the process. It is worth asking whether the position could qualify under H-1B and whether the company has worked with an immigration attorney to evaluate it. If the answer is still no, prioritize employers with documented sponsorship history. Your OPT window is finite, and focusing on receptive employers protects your authorization timeline.
