Growth Manager Jobs for OPT Students
Growth Manager roles are a strong fit for F-1 OPT students with backgrounds in marketing, business, or data analytics. Most positions qualify as specialty occupations, supporting H-1B sponsorship down the line. Your 12-month OPT window, or 24-month STEM extension if eligible, gives you real runway to prove your value and convert to long-term sponsorship.

Since our founding in 2021, we’ve helped tens of thousands of people reach their most ambitious goals, raised $19M from world-class investors, and built the industry leader in educational and career coaching.
We're looking for three high-agency Growth Manager Interns to own and grow critical business lines at Leland. This isn't a "shadow and learn" internship; you'll own a number, build the strategy to move it, and execute relentlessly. If you're an AI-native operator who's obsessed with growth, comfortable with ambiguity, and ready to work like a founder, we want you on the team.
Each intern will own one of the following:
- APMseason.com — Leland's dedicated job search and resource hub for aspiring product managers
- Leland+ — Leland's content membership product
- Courses Sales Automation — Leland's course sales automation (a complex AI workflow)
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll be doing:
- Taking ownership of a specific business line and driving meaningful, measurable growth
- Building your own AI-powered automations and workflows to move faster and work smarter
- Running experiments, analyzing results, and iterating quickly based on what you learn
- Getting in the weeds, whether that's writing copy, cold outreaching potential customers, or digging through data
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Your qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college program
- AI-native operator who actively creates their own automations and uses AI tools to get leverage; not just a user, but a builder
- Available to work 20+ hours per week, in-person in the Lehi office 2+ days/week
- No conflicting summer internship; if you perform well, this role is expected to continue through the summer
YOUR IDENTITY
- High-agency owner who doesn't wait to be told what to do
- AI-native builder who actively uses and builds automations to create leverage
- Metrics-obsessed operator who can define a number, own it, and relentlessly push it forward
- Scrappy and gritty, not afraid to do the unglamorous work required to win
- Clever strategist who can prioritize the right things and defend those priorities
- Energetic self-starter whose instinct is to move fast and figure it out
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Growth Manager
Frame your STEM OPT extension as an asset
If your degree is in a STEM-designated field like data science or computer science, you may qualify for 24 additional months of work authorization. Lead with this in conversations, as it gives employers more time before any H-1B sponsorship commitment.
Demonstrate measurable growth impact early
Employers sponsor visa holders who are hard to replace. Document your contributions in pipeline growth, conversion rates, or revenue attribution from day one. Concrete metrics make the business case for sponsorship significantly stronger.
Prioritize roles with cross-functional data responsibilities
Growth Manager positions tied to analytics, experimentation, or technical marketing are easier to classify as specialty occupations for H-1B purposes. Roles with a clear degree requirement in a specific field strengthen your future petition considerably.
Browse OPT-friendly roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Growth Manager openings at companies already open to OPT candidates. Filtering for sponsorship-friendly employers saves time and ensures you are applying where your work authorization status will not immediately disqualify you.

Can F-1 OPT students work as Growth Managers in the United States?
Yes. F-1 students authorized for OPT can work as Growth Managers, provided the role is directly related to their field of study. Most Growth Manager positions draw from degrees in marketing, business, economics, or data analytics, which are broadly accepted as qualifying fields. You must have your Employment Authorization Document before your start date.
Do Growth Manager jobs typically qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not the job title. If you hold a degree in a STEM-designated field such as statistics, information systems, or computer science, and the Growth Manager role involves substantial data analysis or technical work, you may qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. Your university's international student office determines eligibility, not your employer.
Will employers sponsor Growth Managers for H-1B visas after OPT?
Many do, particularly at mid-size and larger tech companies where growth functions are core to the business. The key factor is whether your role can be classified as a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Growth roles tied to analytics, product-led growth, or performance marketing tend to qualify more reliably than generalist marketing coordinator positions.
Where can I find Growth Manager jobs that are open to OPT candidates?
Migrate Mate lists Growth Manager roles at companies that are open to sponsoring international candidates. Browsing there lets you focus your applications on employers already familiar with OPT and H-1B processes, which dramatically improves your chances of getting through to interviews without your work authorization becoming a disqualifying factor early in screening.
What happens if my OPT expires before my employer can sponsor my H-1B?
If your OPT expires before an H-1B takes effect, you lose work authorization and must stop working. The best protection is starting H-1B sponsorship conversations well before your OPT end date. If you are on STEM OPT, your employer also needs to enroll in E-Verify. Planning around the April H-1B filing window is essential to avoid gaps.
