Entry Level Orthopedic Surgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level orthopedic surgeon job?
Completing a residency program is the core requirement, and fellowship training in a subspecialty like sports medicine or joint replacement gives entry level candidates a clear edge. Employers at this stage look for board eligibility, strong letters of recommendation from attending surgeons, and documented surgical case volume from training. Applying to community hospitals and multispecialty group practices often yields more entry level openings than large academic medical centers.
Which companies hire entry level orthopedic surgeons?
Companies hiring entry level orthopedic surgeons right now include SSM Health, Mayo Clinic, and Allina Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These range from regional hospital systems and orthopedic group practices to ambulatory surgery centers, all of which commonly recruit new residency and fellowship graduates to build out their clinical teams.
Are there remote entry level orthopedic surgeon jobs?
Yes, though the majority of orthopedic surgeon roles are on-site given the hands-on nature of surgical practice. About 0% of entry level orthopedic surgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically covering telehealth consultations, post-operative follow-up visits, or second-opinion review roles that do not require a surgical suite.
Are these new grad orthopedic surgeon jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior orthopedic surgeon roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates with zero to two years of post-training experience, accepts residency or fellowship completion in place of independent practice history, or explicitly values internship rotations and supervised surgical caseload as qualifying experience.
Which industries hire the most entry level orthopedic surgeons?
Entry Level orthopedic surgeon roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they rely on a steady pipeline of residency graduates to meet patient demand for musculoskeletal care, trauma coverage, and elective surgical volume.
