OT Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a OT job in San Diego?
The strongest hiring comes from San Diego's large hospital networks, outpatient orthopedic and hand therapy clinics, and the county's public school districts, which run active caseloads year-round. Candidates who hold a hand therapy or pediatric specialty certification tend to stand out in this market. Concentrating your search in Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa, and the UTC area gives you access to the densest cluster of outpatient and acute care employers.
Which companies hire OTs in San Diego?
Employers hiring ots in San Diego right now include Sharp HealthCare, Jacobs, and RMC Global, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Diego's hiring landscape includes large integrated health systems, private outpatient therapy groups, and unified school districts, all of which maintain consistent OT openings across the region.
Are there remote OT jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though remote work is limited for ots given the hands-on nature of most clinical roles. About 50% of ot openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, covering roles such as telehealth consultations, care coordination, and utilization review. Documentation, case management, and program oversight positions within San Diego's larger health systems are the roles most likely to offer flexible or remote arrangements.
How can I get a OT job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is pursuing an OTA role or a fieldwork-to-hire placement at one of the county's outpatient rehab groups or skilled nursing facilities, which routinely bring on new graduates. San Diego Unified and other local school districts also hire entry-level OTs under supervision. Completing fieldwork hours at a San Diego site and connecting with therapy staffing agencies that serve the county gives early-career candidates a concrete foothold.
